John Gabbert Managing Director of Private Markets Dow Jones & Company John Gabbert is the Managing Director of Private Markets for Dow Jones/VentureOne. In this position he is responsible for the research, sales, marketing, and product development of a suite of venture capital and private equity information products including Venture Source, Venture Wire, and the Private Equity Analyst - among others. Prior to this role, he was the Vice President of Worldwide Research at VentureOne, where he led the company’s research and analysis efforts and was responsible for the body of venture capital knowledge that is the foundation of the company's products and services. John is also a key member of the leadership team that drives the strategic growth of the organization and actively explores and evaluates new information product offerings. Throughout over eight years with the organization, he has played a key role on both sides of six acquisitions/mergers the company experienced (three as the acquired target and three as part of the acquiring/merged organization). He has also held other positions within VentureOne, including Senior Director of Research, Director of Operations, Research Operations Manager, and Research Associate. In these capacities he led operational and strategic aspects related to the domestic and international growth of VentureOne, and was responsible for ensuring the integrity of VentureOne's database as well as leading the research processes. He received a BA in business administration with concentrations in finance and marketing from the University of Washington.
